How did we get here?

As with any business, evolution is a process. This is how it all came to be. It all began with David.

Way back in the year 2000, David started off just as an independent freelancer in Toronto. He was making a transition from being a traditional animator, (Yup, where you had to physically draw every single frame of an animation.) to something else. He wasn't sure just what yet, but something different.

It began with the introduction to the internet, and looking at websites and dissecting them by viewing the source code to figure out how it was all done. This artist taught himself how to program websites just so that he could build his own and showcase his artwork to the world.

That evolved, as soon other business' began to hire him to build sites for them as well. This of course led to what we now call UX design (User Experience.) He started to teach himself the industry standard programs that were being used for design.

From there around 2002 David started to work remotely for a company that built websites all over the globe. This was way ahead of it's time where you didn't need to go into a physical office to work with a team to get the job done, and done right.

Soon after that he started working on websites for the largest toy manufacturing company in Canada to showcase their brands. While doing that he began assisting the graphic design department whenever they needed an extra hand.

Afterwards he moved on to work for a Sports Memorabilia company where he handled all of the design, marketing, and online website. This included also online auctions and eCommerce.

At this time he decided to make a move back to his home town of Windsor. Around 2008 the recession had just hit. Rather than wait around for the economy to recover he enrolled in the Graphic Design program at St. Clair College. The three year program went by very fast and was extremely easy due to the fact that he had already self taught himself all of skills of the trade for many years. A diploma might help with credentials in the future.

While he has worked for a few of the major agencies in the city, within a year of graduating David was asked to teach at St. Clair College. He did this part time for six years in two programs. During that time he has taught almost every course in the graphic design program.

Backtracking a bit, even while in school David was still working freelance for clients. It has never stopped. As things grew, he started to take on the best the brightest pupils he has taught over the years. Thus David Jacob Duke [Creative Design Studio] was born.

This brand was never meant to be the final name, but a transition from one creative to a team.

Which brings us to the next evolution, Duke Marketing Agency.

Now that the client base has grown so large, it was time to take things to the next level and add on more staff to meet the growing demand.
